Our Story

Republic Restoratives is women-owned, LGBTQ-led, and the largest crowdfunded distillery in U.S. history

Why crowdfunded? Because when we pitched our vision to the banks, they didn’t think our "type" of distillery could be successful. Spoiler alert: they were wrong.

We turned to our community. After all, we knew that if they had our backs, we could do anything.  On Derby Day 2015 we batched out a bunch of Mint Juleps, projected the race on the wall in one of our homes, and launched our crowdfunding campaign with the goal of raising $60,000 (!) in 30 days (!!!).  A month later, we had doubled our goal, making history.  A year later, we opened our doors on Mother's Day 2016 in the Ivy City neighborhood of Washington DC.

We don’t just create great spirits. We invest back in our community.

Our spirits don’t just tell stories—they raise money for causes we believe in. So far, we’ve raised over $100k for organizations like the National Network of Abortion Funds, EMILY’s List, Vote.org, Fair Fight Action, and Advocates for Trans Equality. Every bottle we sell is another way for us to give back and fight for justice.

At Republic Restoratives, we’ve always been about breaking the mold. In 2016, when the big corporate brands were saying "It doesn't matter who you vote for, we can all have a drink together afterwards," we weren't.  We went public with our support for Secretary Clinton- and why elections matter so much.

When we launched Rodham Rye and could barely keep up with demand, we knew that once again, our community had our back.

Since then, we've struck a new path for US spirits brands- one that is Outspoken, Disruptive, and distinctly American.

From Madam Whiskey to Fascist Tears Vodka, Civic Pride to Dissent Gin, we create spirits that are as outspoken and disruptive as the trailblazers who inspire them.

Whether we’re crafting bold flavors or bold messaging, we’re here to shake things up—because great spirits should do more than just fill your glass; they should reflect your values.

So, welcome to the revolution. Raise a glass and know that with every sip you're fueling a movement for change.
